For the past decade, I have had the privilege of working at Bluebird Care, a leading provider of homecare services in the UK. My journey with the company has been long and rewarding and I am grateful for the countless memories and experiences that I have gained in the field of care.

I first joined Bluebird Care in 2013 as a Night Carer and as I gained more experience in the role, I progressed to become Night Team Supervisor. I was then promoted to Deputy Manager for Nights in 2022. In my 10 years, I have gone from being part of the team to now overseeing the day-to-day running of our night team of 18 staff, as well as our private and UCR night services for all four of our Bluebird Care NEW Devon offices.

The supportive environment and opportunities offered by the company have meant that my own desire to learn and progress is fulfilled. Additionally, I know that I can make a difference within the Night Team and looking after the night staff keeps me motivated.

One of the things that struck me about Bluebird Care was the emphasis on person-centred care. The company's philosophy of putting the client's needs and preferences at the centre of all care plans resonated with me and was a significant factor in my decision to continue working for the company. Over the years I have seen first-hand how this approach has enhanced the quality of life for many of our clients and has enabled us to deliver care with compassion and respect.

One of the most rewarding aspects of working at Bluebird Care has been that I know I can make a difference to the customers and patients whom I've cared for. Particularly close to my heart is person-centred, dignified, and tailored end-of-life care.

I have also been fortunate to work with a team of dedicated and hardworking colleagues who share my passion for care and who have supported me in my professional development and personal growth.

Looking back on my 10 years at Bluebird Care I feel proud of the contributions that I have made to the company and to the wider community. As the need for sometimes complex overnight care has increased, I'm proud that Bluebird Care has been able to work alongside community-based multidisciplinary teams to provide care for those who choose to remain in their own homes.

I have learned many valuable skills and life lessons through my work such as empathy, patience and resilience which have helped me both personally and professionally. Above all I have gained a sense of purpose and fulfilment from the knowledge that I have made a positive difference in the lives of others.

In conclusion, working at Bluebird Care has been a journey of growth learning and fulfilment for me. As the company continues to expand and innovate in the field of home care, I am excited to see what the future holds and to be part of this dynamic and rewarding industry.
