Exmouth Friends in Need founder makes Queen's Honours List for service to community during Covid-19

Claire Austin, who founded Exmouth Friends in Need in November 2018 to help prevent and alleviate poverty for local families during the pandemic, was awarded a BEM (British Empire Medal) in June.

BREAKING: Exmouth anti-social drinking ban now in place

A new anti-social drinking ban - not a blanket alcohol ban - was put in place for Exmouth's beaches in July.

August

An interview with Katie McCabe, 14, after she broke the record for youngest GB solo sail

14-year-old Katie McCabe completed her solo sail around Great Britain in August, arriving back in the Exe Estuary after 52 days.

September

Afghan refugees who helped UK armed forces to stay in Exmouth hotel temporarily

In September, it was announced that a number of Afghan families would stay in an Exmouth hotel as part of the government's refugee resettlement programme.

Exmouth misses out on multi-million-pound Dinan Way bid, Simon Jupp MP 'deeply disappointed'

This much-anticipated bid had been looking hopeful, but was unsuccessful in October.
