Simon Jupp MP asked whether the Exmouth Dinan Way extension bid had been successful in the House of Commons on Monday (9 January).

The bid for government cash, which failed in 2021 but was formally backed again by councillors in June last year, would see Dinan Way connected with the A376 to move traffic away from residential roads.

Dehenna Davison MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Levelling Up, told the Conservative MP for East Devon that the outcome of the Levelling Up bids would be announced "in due course".

The scheme has had planning permission since 2017.

The bid would see Dinan Way connected with the A376 (Google Maps)

Mr Jupp said: "The Dinan Way extension in Exmouth and the Cullompton relief road are two major projects that are needed to cut congestion and improve air quality locally.

"My hon. Friend knows that I have made the case for those bids previously, but may I make one final plea now?"

Dehenna Davison replied: "My hon. Friend is another fantastic champion, not just for his constituency but for the whole of the South West.

"We will announce the outcome of the bids in due course, but his question has been heard loud and clear."

The Exmouth bid would also see changes to the area around the railway station, such as filling in the subway, improving crossing points, and having better signage to the town and seafront.
