Joe Sansom, of long-established Exmouth family business MPS Glass & Window Centre Ltd, is to run the Great West Run on 21 May this year in aid of Exmouth RNLI.

Avid supporters of Exmouth RNLI, MPS Glass & Window Centre of Pound Lane, Exmouth received a special certificate of recognition from RNLI Chief Executive, Mark Dowie in 2022, when they donated the cost of window repairs at Exmouth Lifeboat Station to the lifesaving charity.

Joe, 30, born and raised in Exmouth and himself a keen water user said: "I am aware of the phenomenal work the RNLI do to keep us all safe through their 24 hour voluntary search and rescue service.

"The RNLI has helped save over 142,000 lives that could otherwise be lost at sea and I'm looking forward to participating in the Great West Run and raising funds for our local lifesavers."

Des White, Chair of the Exmouth RNLI Fundraising Team, said: "I'm so pleased that Joe is taking part in this run to raise funds for us here at Exmouth RNLI and, on behalf of all the volunteers here, thank him and wish him every success on the day. All funds raised by Joe will be used for essential training and equipment for the volunteer Exmouth Lifeboat crews to enable them to continue their work saving lives at sea."
