A new exhibition has opened at Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) featuring well-known East Devon beauty spots including Fire Beacon Hill, Harpford Woods and Woodbury Castle.
'Experiencing the Landscape' features new work created especially for this project by local contemporary artists Angus Rutherford, Megan Calver, Gabby Hoad and Jenny Mellings. Exhibited alongside are some of the artworks created in workshops by local people and school children. The exhibition is the culmination of a year-long collaborative project between East Devon District Councils' THG and East Devon AONB, marking 25 years of the East Devon Way, the 40 mile footpath running from Exmouth to Lyme Regis.
Chris Woodruff from East Devon AONB, opened the exhibition and said,We have really enjoyed working on this project together with THG who inspired the remarkable programme of 87 art-based workshops and activities along the East Devon Way.
We were really pleased to be able to involve so many other East Devon partners including the Forestry Commission, Lyme Regis Museum, Heath Week, the RSPB and Pebblebeds Heaths amongst others. There are more workshops and events going on in East Devon this month and into October which I would encourage everyone to take part in and engage with the landscape.
