Exmouth residents are being warned to watch out for fraudulent fundraisers operating in the town.
The Exeter Royal Deaf Academy, which is currently raising funds to build a new academy in Exmouth, has taken to social media to warn people in Exmouth about fake fundraisers.
A spokesperson for the academy posted on social media: "Please be vigilant if you are approached by somebody on the street claiming to be collecting money for The Deaf Academy.
"We have been made aware of a small number of fraudulent fundraisers using the academy's name to try to trick people into handing over cash recently.
"Our staff and volunteers will always be easily identifiable by their ID badges and branded clothing. We will never use pressure tactics to ask for donations, and will always respond to requests to identify ourselves."
The Deaf Academy is trying to raise £250,000 to build a brand new academy in the town, delivering the 'world-class education and residential care that our inspiring students deserve'.
