An Exmouth pub is planning to mark the end of the coronavirus lock down with a special street party paying tribute to the town's key workers and thanking the community for sticking together.
Spoken has pencilled in Saturday, September 12, for the street party but that date may change depending on the coronavirus situation at the time and Government advice.
The party, planned to take place between 1pm and 8pm, will feature food stalls, Spoken's mobile bar, music, entertainment and an hour to celebrate the NHS. There will also be guest speakers throughout the afternoon and evening.
Nub News spoke to Spoken landlord George Nightingale today to find out more, he said: "We want to organise a street party in the centre of town to celebrate the passing of COVID-19 and celebrate the NHS, celebrate local heroes and to put on music and entertainment to make the pandemic a thing of the past!
"We will have tables out, a stage to allow talks to take place and we will be observing a minute's silence.
"It should be great for all the town's businesses in the immediate area and give a real community feel.
George added: "We will hold this free event in on or around the date shown and with any measures necessary at the time but hopefully far enough away so that there are none."
If you are a member of a group which would like to get involved please e-mail [email protected] – The Spoken team would like to hear your stories, see your performances, your memories of the pandemic and also give recognition to some of the heroes that walk among us.
