Councillors will meet next week to consider the recommendation to take Queen's Drive phase 3 into a 'formal marketing exercise' and complete the 'visioning/information gathering process'.

HemingwayDesign and Lambert Smith Hampton have now submitted their vision for Exmouth Seafront to East Devon District Council.

Their report sets out broad proposals for the use of the Queen's Drive site and its role and contribution to the wider seafront area. It considers a range of development and investment strategies for delivering 'positive change' and recommends that the site is formally marketed to provide information about the interest in delivering mixed leisure uses on the site.

At a meeting of East Devon District Council's Cabinet on February 5, councillors will consider HemingwayDesign/Lambert Smith Hampton's report and recommendations in conjunction with officer recommendations for the marketing of the Queen's Drive Phase 3 site.

A spokesperson for EDDC said: "The Queen's Drive site is an important council asset and it gives East Devon the opportunity to achieve its objectives of increased economic prosperity and place making for Exmouth, achieving business growth and new jobs, as well as making a financial return, which in turn will ensure key services can continue to benefit its customers.

"HemingwayDesign/Lambert Smith Hampton's revisioning exercise for Phase 3 of the Queen's Drive redevelopment concludes a programme of work carried out by them over the past two years.

"In addition, the council has successfully delivered the completion of Phase 1, the new road and car park, and Grenadier Estates are on site with Phase 2, which will see the delivery of a watersports centre, café, public space and small retail units.

"Grenadier are now on site with a scheduled completion date of Summer 2020. It is worth mentioning that they have successfully attracted the locally based award winning chef, Michael Caines, who will run the new café on the site as part of Phase 2."

The temporary activities at Queen's Drive Space will continue this summer with an exciting programme of events for all the family. Further information can be found on the Queen's Drive Space website by clicking the red button below.

Councillor Geoff Pook, East Devon's portfolio holder for asset management, said: "We welcome the findings and recommendations in the report. HemingwayDesign recognises the potential of the site to become a special place and be a real driver of positive change for Exmouth.

"We now need to complete the marketing, make some bold decisions and get on with delivering this site for the people of Exmouth."
