Hospiscare is offering to collect and recycle Christmas trees in the Exeter, Exmouth and Honiton areas in January to raise money for its services.

How it works

You'll need to sign your tree up to be collected on the JustHelping website here by Monday 3 January at 8am.

Hospiscare volunteers will then collect and recycle it on Friday 7 or Saturday 8 January from the following postcodes: EX1, EX2, EX3, EX4, EX8, EX14 1, EX14 2, and EX14 3.

The tree should be outside your house and marked 'Hospiscare pick-up' by 8am on Friday 7 January.

A donation of £10 is suggested for the service. Hospiscare has said that it does not receive funding for disposing of the trees, and cannot accept artificial trees.

A Hospiscare spokesperson said: "A small act of kindness can go a long way... £15 would pay for a cosy fleece blanket for a patient staying on the ward; £31 would cover the cost of a bed in the ward for one hour; £37 would pay for an hour's specialist bereavement care; £56 would pay for a home visit by a Hospiscare Community Nurse Specialist."
