How to vote in the upcoming Devon County Council elections on 6 May

The Devon County Council elections will take place on Thursday 6 May, just five weeks from today.

Registering to vote

In order to cast your ballot, you must be on the electoral register.

The deadline to register to vote is 19 April. You only need to register once.

You can vote by post, by proxy, or in person at the polls.

County Returning Officer for Devon County Council, Jan Shadbolt, said: "Safety is an absolute priority and we are working hard with our colleagues in the district councils to make sure that no matter how you choose to vote, whether by post, by proxy or in person, you can do so safely.

"The availability of postal and proxy voting will be a safe option for many however, for those of you who choose to vote at a polling station, arrangements will be in place to ensure your safety."

Voting by post

To vote by post, either call 01395 571529 or email [email protected] to request an application form.

Completed forms must be returned by 5pm on Tuesday, 20 April.

Voting by proxy

To have someone you trust vote for you, call 01395 571529 or email [email protected].

The deadline to apply is 5pm on Tuesday, 27 April, but if your proxy will cast your vote by post the deadline is Tuesday, 13 April.

Voting at the polls

Polling cards have been sent out with the location of the polling station.

Some polling stations may have changed to ensure public safety during the pandemic.

Exmouth Littleham West's usual venue of Holy Ghost Church has now changed to Ocean.

Exmouth Town North's usual venue of All Saints Church has now changed to Exmouth Town FC.
