Investigation underway after single vehicle crash leaves man with serious injuries

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after a single car crash in Exmouth, police are appealing for witnesses.

Emergency services were called at 2.25am on Monday, May 27, after reports of a single vehicle collision on the A376 near Marine Way in Exmouth.

It is believed that a Volkswagen Golf left the road and collided with a lamp post and trees before coming to a stop.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the car, a 19-year-old local man was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with serious injuries where he remains.

The A376 between Exeter Road and Imperial Road remained closed while a forensic examination of the scene was conducted. The road was fully reopened at around 11am having been inspected by Devon Highways.

Officers from the Exeter Roads Policing Unit and Serious Collision Investigation Team are appealing for witnesses to come forward, anyone with any information is asked to email [email protected] quoting log number 98 for May 27.
