Exmouth lifeboat volunteers sprang into action to rescue a kitesurfer in difficulties off Dawlish Warren this afternoon (Thursday, December 24).

The RNLI's inshore lifeboat was called out at 2.24pm after Exmouth's National Coastwatch Institution volunteers reported the kitesurfer in distress to HM Coastguard.

The D-755 Peggy-D boat, with Scott Ranft at the helm and crew David Preece and Roy Stott, launched less than 15 minutes later and made its way to the location of the reported incident.

They found the kitesurfer, took him on board and brought him safely back to shore at Exmouth. He was unhurt and did not need medical attention.
