Police have issued advice to horse owners after a large quantity of horse riding equipment was stolen from the Bicton area.

The theft occurred overnight on the 13th and 14th of June in the Bicton area.

The items stolen include: four brown Antares saddles two of which have stingray logos, two Samshield hats, three brown Antares bridles, three brass buckled bridles, two Voltaire saddles and a number of unbranded bridles.

Devon and Cornwall Police Horse Watch Coordinator Emma Tonkies issued the following advice to horse owners:

-Take detailed photographs of your horse and all of your equipment – especially any unusual or expensive items. These images can then be quickly passed to police and you can circulate online should they go missing.

-Freeze marking is recommended on your horse. Along with microchipping you are ensuring your horse can be traced to you.

-Tack may not be covered by your insurance policy as standard and there may be specific instructions to meet. Some policies specify a 5-lever mortice deadlock is fitted on all doors (these locks can be purchased for around £30). Some specify steel bars/grids on the windows.

-You could consider CCTV overlooking entrances.

If you have any relevant information relating to the incident please contact the police on 101 quoting crime reference number: CR/062706/19.
