Update: Man from Exmouth area, 26, arrested after crash

Update 12.47pm: A 26-year-old man from the Exmouth area was arrested and is currently in police custody.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "A 26-year-old man from the Exmouth area was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

"He was further arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care.

"He remains in custody at this time."

Police are appealing for witnesses of a crash that left a motorcyclist with life-changing injuries yesterday evening (Tuesday 23 August) in Exmouth.

The crash involved a silver Ford Transit panel van and a green motorcycle and took place at the junction of Salterton Road and Dinan Way.

Police were called at around 8.40pm, and the road was reopened at around 3am.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "As a result of the collision, the rider of the motorcycle sustained life-changing injuries and was airlifted to hospital for treatment.

"A full forensic investigation of the scene took place and officers are working to establish the cause of this collision. Police thank the public for their patience while they investigated the scene." 

Police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision, or anyone with information or dashcam footage, to get in touch online or call 101 quoting log 908 of 23 August.
