NCI Exmouth, a volunteer coastwatch service, is extending its lookout hours for the summer.

From Monday 16 May to 12 September its hours of operation will be 8am to 8pm.

A spokesperson for NCI Exmouth said: "Our volunteer watchkeepers will be on duty for 12 hours a day, every day.

"We will be vigilant in our coastal surveillance of Exmouth Beach and by use of our new CCTV cameras to Orcombe Point and from the Exe Estuary to Topsham.

"Our daily broadcasts of local weather conditions will also extend and will still be broadcast on VHF Channel 65 at 09.20, 12.20, 14.20, 16.20hrs and also at 18.20hrs. Call sign "EXMOUTH NCI"."

NCI Exmouth is part of the National Coastwatch Institution. Its lookout station, Coastwatch House, is located on Exmouth seafront, and its trained volunteers keep watch every day of the year.
