A new Exmouth café has already received 12 five-star or 'excellent' reviews on Tripadvisor.
Arc Kitchen and Coffee House, located at Greenfingers Garden Centre on Pound Lane, opened just two months ago on 1 March 2022 - and started its Tripadvisor page only recently.
The new cafe is owned by married couple Angus and Rosie Robertson, together with Chris Groves, who used to run mobile coffee van Big Bear Coffee on the seafront.
Angus also runs the Pizza Garden van at the entrance to the garden centre, which proved a hit during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rosie said that the cafe is called 'Arc' as it reflects the shape of the building - and is an acronym of the owners' initials (i.e., Angus Rosie Chris, ARC).
'A happy, comfortable environment'
The cafe sources its food and coffee locally, and focuses on good customer service and quality. It has indoor and outdoor seating, and you can even take your coffee to other benches within the garden centre.
Rosie said: "It's a really established garden centre with a great reputation ... the plants are really well kept. People come here for quality, which is why we wanted to make sure the cafe offered a similar quality.
"We've got a stream running alongside so it's really pretty and people can shop around in the garden centre and just relax with the [free] parking as well.
"We wanted just a happy, comfortable environment that people can come and sit as long as they like and chat - and if they come in on their own they know they'd get a conversation with their coffee if they wanted."
Chris added: "Everything has been sourced from the South West, where we can.
"I think people come here and you can enjoy and you almost feel that you're not actually in the middle of a town."
What's on the menu?
Arc Kitchen and Coffee House opens from 9am-4.30pm and 10am-4pm on Sundays. It offers hot drinks and cakes, alongside breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes featuring English and British favourites such as a 'fancier' full English breakfast and a ploughman's lunch, but also beef burgers and pancakes.
One dish highlighted as a particular favourite of customers was its mushrooms on toast, complete with a poached and fried breaded duck egg.
Rosie said: "We do have a children's menu as well. We've tried to do a range [of healthy things] … so it's not just chips!"
