Exmouth Museum and Heritage Centre's new visitor reception area was officially opened on Friday (31 March).

Volunteers transformed the museum's original tack room (the building was once used as stables) over the winter.

Exmouth Museum spokesperson Mike Menhenitt said: "We could not have done all this without the generous support we have received in the form of materials and time donated to the museum from the following Exmouth businesses, and for this the museum thank them most warmly: Wilsons Paints, Carpet King, MPS Glass, The Kitchen Studio, Tim Wright Plastering, Jewsons."

Conservative MP for East Devon Simon Jupp, whose constituency includes Exmouth, said: "It's so great to be here today and see the combination of so much effort that's gone into making this space even better.

"Thank you to all the volunteers that were involved, all the skilled labour.

"It's an absolute honour to be here, and enjoy the place. Please tell all your friends and the rest of the community about the museum."
