Nominations published for East Devon local elections

The candidates for this year's East Devon district, town and parish council elections have now been revealed, with the elections taking place on Thursday, May 2.

The nominations list shows that two of East Devon District Council's 30 electoral wards are uncontested – Exmouth Withycombe Raleigh ward (two seats) and Clyst Valley ward (one seat) – which means that three of the council's 60 seats, have been returned unopposed.

The district council election will now focus on 28 electoral wards and 57 seats.

Contested town and parish councils are Colyton, Combpyne Rousdon, Dalwood, Exmouth Brixington, Exmouth Halsdon, Exmouth Littleham, Exmouth Town, Kilmington, Ottery St Mary (North), Ottery St Mary (Tipton St John), Ottery St Mary (Town), Sidmouth (East), Sidmouth (North), Sidmouth (Salcombe Regis), Sidmouth (Sidford Village), Sidmouth (South), and Uplyme.

In order to vote in this important election, residents must be on the electoral register and the deadline to register is just a few days away on Friday, April 12.

You can register online which takes just five minutes. All you will need to register is your National Insurance number.

The deadline for applications to vote by postal vote is also fast approaching and voters need to apply by 5pm on Monday, April 15. To request a postal voting application form please contact Electoral Services on 01395 571529.
