Pedestrian dies in car park collision in Exmouth

An 84-year-old woman has died after a road traffic collision occurred yesterday (10 December) at 4.43pm.

The incident, which was between a blue Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian, took place in the car park of All Saints Church on Exeter Road in Exmouth.

Local officers as well as officers from the Roads Policing Team, and Serious Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene.

A police statement read: "The Ford Fiesta was driven by an 84 year old female local to the area. She was un-injured in the collision

"Sadly however as a result of the collision the pedestrian also an 84-year-old female local to the Exmouth area sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene."

Fire crews were also called to the scene to help free the woman who had been trapped under the vehicle.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue commented: "Two crews from Exmouth and one crew from Middlemoor were mobilised.

"Unfortunately, the female was trapped under the vehicle and was declared deceased on scene by paramedics after being released from the car."
