Person dies after being hit by train near Exmouth

A person has died after being hit by a train close to Exmouth this morning (Thursday 6 April).

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not treating it as suspicious.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "We were called to the line close to Exmouth at 5.52am this morning, to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Officers attended alongside colleagues from the ambulance service but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
