Police are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of a man who has gone missing in East Devon.

Police have issued the following statement: "William Fowles who is 18-year-old and from Exeter, was last seen in the Beer area of Seaton at around 9:30pm last night (Tuesday 24 September).

"He is described as a white male with dark black curly hair and a tanned complexion.

"He was last seen wearing shorts, jumper and white trainers.

Sidmouth Lifeboat were also called to support Lyme RNLI to help search for Mr Fowles.

A statement read: "At 2225 hours Sidmouth Lifeboat paged by Solent Coastguard to support Lyme RNLI Lifeboat in a search for a missing person in the Beer area.

"Sidmouth Lifeboat agreed to launch, subject to regular review of the weather conditions, with near gale force 7 due within the hour.

"Lyme then reported difficulty making headway against the weather and likely very difficult search conditions on scene.

"With that in mind, Solent made the decision to task the All-Weather boat from Exmouth to the incident instead, and Sidmouth Lifeboat was stood down.

"At 2255 hours Lyme Lifeboat stood down and returned to station, with Exmouth en route."

If you have seen William or know of his current whereabouts, please contact the police on 999 quoting log number 905 for September 24.
