Police close section of Exmouth beach following discovery of 'unidentifiable object'

A section of Exmouth beach has been cordoned off while police deal with an unidentifiable object discovered on the beach this morning (Weds) at around 9.30am.

A spokesperson for Exmouth NCI-Coastwatch to Exmouth Nub News: "Two police cars are stationed on the pavement and the area between the Coastwatch tower and just past the ice-creamery where the rocks are has been coned-off."

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Officers have cordoned off a 50 by 70 metre area of Exmouth beach close to the Coastwatch tower on the Esplanade, after an unidentifiable object measuring approximately 25cm by 12cm was discovered this morning.

"It was reported to police at around 9.30am. An ammunition container has been placed over the object as a precaution as enquiries continue."
