Police release Exmouth crime stats for 2019

During 2019 there were 2,517 crimes recorded for the Exmouth area.

This is a reduction of just over 3% on 2018. Overall we recorded fewer offences of vehicle crime, theft and burglary than in the previous year.

2019 saw a small increase in criminal damage and public order offences, however crimes involving violence remained about the same as 2018.

Recorded drug offences have increased in 2019 reflecting the work police have done in targeting known offenders and dealers.

Domestic abuse accounts for about 20% of all crime yet is still under reported. Police continue to look at ways of encouraging people in abusive relationships to seek support and anyone reporting to police will be listened to and given options to manage their situation. Exmouth and the surrounding towns and villages remain a low crime area, however it is important people continue to report crime or incidents to us in order that we can respond to and investigate offences or use the information to build a clearer picture of offending to target those responsible.
