A woman in her 50s has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a collision between a car and a lorry on the A376 Exmouth Road near Lympstone.

The incident, which happened earlier this afternoon (6 Aug), has blocked the road both ways causing queueing traffic near The Saddlers Pub.

Police have reported congestion to Woodbury as traffic diverts around the problems on the A376.

According to a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police: "Police were called by the ambulance service with a report of a collision between a car and a lorry on Exmouth Road at around 3pm.

"A woman, aged in her 50s, has been taken by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth with serious injuries.

"The road is currently closed in both directions and is expected to remain so for some time."
