Exmouth Town Council has announced that there will be "big changes" to next year's Exmouth Festival due to rising costs.

The 2022 event took place at the Imperial Recreation Ground, but in 2023 the local authority plans to take it to "multiple locations across Exmouth" in a more flexible approach.

Most events and activities will stay free, and organisers are looking for local businesses interested in hosting festival activity.

The festival dates have also been moved to the last weekend of July (28-31 July 2023).

Arts Manager at Exmouth Town Council Charlie Tapp said: "It was clear from the feedback we received that the public really valued the free nature of the festival.

"Ticketing the event didn't feel like the right way forwards at this time, and this would have been the only way to keep the scale of event we've delivered since 2016.

"It has been a difficult decision, but we've made the choice to deliver an event that is accessible to everyone in our community.

"There has also been high demand for a more varied arts programme, and requests to celebrate the community roots the festival grew from."

Organisers are asking performers, artists, community groups and businesses who want to get involved to contact them online here.
