The RNLI is currently on the lookout for lifeguards to man the beaches at Sandy Bay, Exmouth, Dawlish Warren, and Teignmouth North and South this summer.
You'll be giving advice to beach-goers and preventing incidents, as well as rescuing people who get into trouble and doing first aid.
The salary is £9.90 to £11.86 per hour on a temporary, seasonal, or casual basis.
An RNLI spokesperson said: "Lifeguards operate from static lifeguard units and mobile patrols. Rescue boards and tubes are most commonly used but, depending on the beach, lifeguards also use ATVs (all-terrain vehicles or quad bikes), four-wheel drives, RWCs (rescue watercrafts or jet skis) and IRBs (inshore rescue boats).
"There are four different levels of lifeguard, from newly qualified right through to senior lifeguard. We'll provide you with excellent training opportunities to help you progress as you gain experience. At all levels, you'll learn valuable skills for your future career, at the RNLI or elsewhere."
How can I apply?
You'll need to be 'over school-leaving age', and have parental permission if you're under 18.
You'll have to do a fitness and competency test, together with health and eyesight checks.
You'll also need a National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ), ILS Beach/Surf Lifeguard award or equivalent. You can still apply without one, but you'll have to say in your application how you're going to get the qualification.
