A specialist rescue team from Exmouth was sent to a report of a person in the brook next to Dawlish railway station yesterday (12 May) soon after 9pm.

Together with one fire engine from Dawlish and one from Teignmouth, the crews were unable to locate the person initially, but then after searching upstream and downstream they found them on the bank and helped them onto dry land.

The individual was suffering from hypothermia and was treated by paramedics.
