Thieves steal till and charity box in early morning raid on Exmouth pharmacy
An Exmouth pharmacy was broken into in the early hours of this morning, leaving the pharmacy's director 'flabbergasted' as the thieves evaded security alarms.
A till worth upwards of £500, £80 in cash and a Diabetes UK charity box were taken in the early morning break-in at Pines Pharmacy, Pines Road.
No alarms were triggered by the break-in and pharmacy director Alison Hayes was notified by the police early this morning.
Speaking exclusively to Nub News, Alison said: "We were flabbergasted, as the alarm was not triggered.
"It seems they managed to evade triggering the alarm so either they knew what they were doing or had visited at some point to check out our security system.
"The till is worth more than the money left in it. It's a major inconvenience at one of our busiest periods of the year.
"No drugs were taken, so it seems like petty theft. That said, they knew what they were doing."
Pines Pharmacy has opened as usual today despite a broken window and a missing till. A borrowed till is on the way this afternoon but until then staff are serving customers 'the old fashioned way' with a calculator and written receipts.
Alison added: "This is our busiest time of year, we really didn't need this."
If you saw anybody acting suspiciously around the pharmacy last night or in the early hours of this morning, contact the police on 101 quoting the crime reference number CR116666-19.
