The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning covering the Exmouth area for tonight with the rest of the weekend forecast to be a mixed bag.

A weather warning for heavy thundery showers potentially leading to flooding, interruption of power supplies, delays to public transport and damage to buildings has been issued by the Met Office.

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for today (June 7) between 2pm and 11pm.

Most of the South West is now bracing itself for stormy weather with motorists warned to only make essential journeys.

Today there will be heavy rain at times with slow moving heavy and thundery showers expected in East and North Devon. High winds are expected in coastal areas.

As we move into the evening expect winds to reach gale force on the coasts with the rain set ease as we move into the night.

On Saturday cloud and rain is expected to continue to affect East Devon, however, it will become drier and brighter as we move into the afternoon.

On Sunday and Monday we can expect to see a mixture of sunny spells and scattered rain with the possibility of some lingering thundery showers.

Tuesday is expected to be much brighter but rain may arrive later on in the day.
