Topsham man dies in Sidmouth after 'medical episode'

A man in his 50s from the Topsham area died after suffering a "medical episode" in Sidmouth on Saturday (3 June).

The ambulance service informed police about the incident in the Peak Hill Road area just before 10am.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene despite the "best efforts" of the emergency services.

His next of kin have been informed and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police were informed by the ambulance service of a man having a medical episode in the Peak Hill Road area of Sidmouth just before 10am on Saturday (3 June).

"Police units attended along with the ambulance and air ambulance.

"Despite the best efforts of those at the scene, the man in his 50s from the Topsham area was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"His next of kin have been informed. This death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is to be prepared for the coroner."
