A man accused of murdering a 74-year-old woman in a daylight park attack has had a new trial date fixed.

Cameron Davis, 30, is accused of carrying out the fatal attack on Lorna England, who died at the scene at Ludwell Valley Park in Exeter on Saturday 18 February at around 4pm after being stabbed.

Davis was charged with murder and appeared at Exeter Crown Court on Thursday (23 March).

The defendant, of Exmouth, Devon, was told by Judge Robert Linford a new provisional trial date had been set for 6 November.

It will take place at Exeter Crown Court and was scheduled to last up to two weeks.

A planned plea by Davis was adjourned today for further psychiatric reports to be carried out.

Earlier tributes poured in for Ms England, of Exeter, who police say was not known to her alleged attacker.

One neighbour said: "She is one of those people who would have lived here forever.

"She was just a really nice lady."

Davis was remanded in custody ahead of his next appearance at Exeter Crown Court on 7 July.
