Two Exmouth car parks have been closed after advice from Devon and Cornwall Police.

Police asked East Devon District Council to shut the two car parks in an effort to reduce the amount of people flouting social distancing rules by driving to local beaches and beauty spots.

On the advice from Police, the following East Devon District Council car parks are now closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic:

-Maer Road, Exmouth

-Foxholes, Exmouth

A spokesperson for the council said: "This action has been taken to reinforce the clearly-stated government advice on social distancing, staying at home and not driving to beaches and beauty spots.

"All other car parks currently remain open but are under review."
