UPDATE: 59 year old man rushed to hospital after Exmouth crash

A 59-year old man has been taken to hospital after a crash in Exmouth this morning.

Police officers closed Hulham Road in Exmouth for more than four hours this morning after a crash at around 8.30am.

A car reportedly collided with a hedge and a 59-year-old man with suspected chest injuries had to be taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called to Hulham Road near to King's Garden Centre, Exmouth, at around 8.30am this morning following reports that a car had gone into a hedge.

"A man has been taken to Derriford Hospital with suspected chest injuries, possible broken bones.

"The road was closed in both directions and reopened around midday."

Hulham Road has now fully reopened.
