The Fairlynch Museum in Budleigh Salterton is asking for volunteers to cover additional opening hours ahead of its reopening next month on 24 June.

Located in a thatched cottage near the sea, Fairlynch Museum has costume and geological collections of national importance, as well as resources for studying local and family history.

Those over the age of 18 are encouraged to help out. In return, the museum is offering interesting work experience over the summer, with full training provided.

No experience is necessary - just an enthusiastic, friendly and engaging personality is required, as well as the ability to know when to chat to visitors and when to let them explore uninterrupted.

Chair of the Museum, Trevor Waddington, said: "Staycations this year due to Covid are expected to greatly increase the number of visitors to Budleigh Salterton.

"This presents a golden opportunity to extend Fairlynch opening hours - but we do need additional stewards to be recruited."
