Woman dies at scene of Exmouth house fire

A woman in her 50s has died at the scene of a house fire on Hartley Road in Exmouth.

Her next of kin have been informed.

Police were called by the fire service at around 1am this morning (Wednesday 3 August) to the property.

They have said that the cause of the fire is still being investigated, but it is not believed to be suspicious.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called by the fire services at around 1am on Wednesday 3 August to a property on Hartley Road, Exmouth.

"Fire were on scene responding to reports of a fire at a property.

"A woman in her 50s was confirmed deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

"The cause of the fire remains under investigation but is not believed to be suspicious."

Anyone with information which could help the investigation is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 50 of 3 August.
