Work has now begun to turn the temporary car park on Queen's Drive into a COVID-safe fitness area.

Groundworks began last week to remove the previous foundations.

The area will now be covered with a 100mm layer of topsoil and sown with grass seed suitable for the coast.

A new entrance, one-way system, and seating area are to be included in the project.

The new picnic benches will be made of sustainable materials, along with two 'hardstanding' or hard-surfaced areas for disabled access.

The planned opening for the new area is 12 April.
