Councillors have unanimously backed plans aimed at tackling the growing issue of anti-social drinking on Exmouth's main beaches.

East Devon District Council's cabinet, when they met on Wednesday, supported plans to carry out public consultation on proposals to extend the existing Public Spaces Protection Order for the town to also cover the beach.

A fire crew from Exmouth responded to a road traffic collision near Four Firs, Woodbury yesterday (13 May) just before 6.30pm in which a car was on its roof.

Together with another crew and the Heavy Rescue vehicle from Middlemoor, the one woman trapped inside was freed with the use of small tools.

A water rescue appliance was sent from Exmouth today at around 11.30am (13 May) to a report of four individuals stuck in fast-flowing water near Ludwell Lane in Exeter.

Together with two fire engines from Middlemoor and Danes Castle, the crews found on arrival that two of the individuals were out of the water, but the other two were still stuck.
