Local elections are set to take place this Thursday (6 May) for Devon County Council, various town councils, and to elect a Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall.

If you're voting in person at a polling station, East Devon District Council has asked the public to make sure to do the following:

There has been no percentage rise in the number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases in East Devon, according to the latest statistics.

Of new cases confirmed since 23 April, 16 were from East Devon.

At 11.38am today Tuesday 27 April 2021 Exmouth RNLI all weather lifeboat 13-03 R & J Welburn was launched having been tasked by H.M. Coastguard to a report of a 24ft speedboat suffering from engine failure, out of control and being taken out to sea by a strong tide. Its location was reported as approximately 100 metres south west of Orcombe Point and drifting.

The lifeboat launched at 12:03pm and was commandeered by Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew, Coxswain Steve Hockings-Thompson, Andrew Stott, Robert Thompson, James Edge and Ed Steele.

Exe Fishing is offering mackerel and reef fishing trips throughout the summer.

Mackerel trips last around two hours and are ideal for families or those who've never fished before.

A new campaign, 'Naturally Healthy May', is due to begin next month to encourage Devon residents to enjoy the great outdoors and improve their wellbeing.

Home Instead Exeter and East Devon's newly launched live-in care service means that clients have the option of receiving full-time care within their own home.

Day and night, elderly people will have the same CAREGiver with them to perform the tasks that they need help with, whether that's support with mobility or cooking and housework. The CAREGiver has their assigned working hours, but is there at all times in case an emergency arises.
