A project to transform the roundabout at the entrance to Exmouth town centre has reached a landmark stage, with the installation of three metal sculptures representing fish swimming through fronds of seaweed.

The sculptures have been created by Hemyock-based artist and blacksmith Anthony Doble, based on drawings by Exmouth In Bloom's Graham Bell, who's also a member of Exmouth Art Group. Anthony worked on the sculptures during lockdown and came to install them earlier this month.

Devon's education chief has said he feared there will be further disruption and changes to how 2021's exams run as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and has called for more financial support for schools facing extra costs.

More generous grading, advance notice of exam topics and additional papers have been promised by the Department for Education (DfE) to make up for the disruption faced by students during the pandemic.

A care home testing pilot has 'brought hope and a glimpse of the new normal' across Devon, with the hope all care homes will have rapid testing in place by Christmas.

Eight care homes across Devon have been selected to take part in the trial for relatives to visit their loved ones indoors without a screen, subject to the results of a rapid Covid-19 test.

It is a 'sorry state of affairs' that has seen a 50 per cent increase in domestic violence requests and referrals to specialist support teams in Devon in 2020 compared to last year.

Cllr Roger Croad, cabinet member for Community and Public Health, told Thursday's full Devon County Council meeting that there has been a steady increase in referrals and requests for specialist support for victims of domestic abuse in Devon in recent years, and a sharp increase since the Spring Covid-19 lockdown.
