Exmouth RFC is looking to start a new 'walking rugby' squad.

People from all walks of life are welcome, no matter their experience of rugby, age, gender, or fitness.

The elderly, those recovering from injuries, or ex-rugby players are examples of people who might like to join.

A spokesperson for Exmouth RFC, often dubbed 'the Cockles', said: "We want to encourage people outside of rugby to come along and join in.

"It's active, fun, and safe.

"It can look a bit quirky at times but it is a very effective way of raising your heart rate.

"A typical session increases your daily step count by between 4,500 and 8,000 (depending on numbers per team).

"Walking rugby is a great leveller and you do not need to be fit – we work on that together."
