BLACKMORE THEATRE OPEN AUDITIONS
THE RAILWAY CHILDREN
Mike Kenny's adaptation is pacy, innovative and unorthodox and, in his words, "the most powerful prop we have is the imagination of the audience and the most effective tool is the skill of the actors".
Age is not an overriding factor but the power to create a believable character.
A retrospective telling of the story, the main characters:
Roberta (Bobbie), Peter and Phyllis are played by young adults.
Their supporting cast: Mother, Perks and The Old Gentleman are individual roles.
The following are multiples: Maid/Mrs Perks; Cook/Mrs Viney; Father/Superintendent/Workman; Butler/Mr Szezcpansky/Jim; Doctor/Workman
The Perks' have three children (preferably two girls and a boy)
The Director is not setting any audition pieces but propose calling groups to read in an impromptu fashion as it is important to identify the family connection and those with whom they interact who have character changes. You will obviously know the character/characters for which you wish to audition.
Scripts are available for loan and are located in the Limelight Bar with a sign out sheet. It would be appreciated that scripts are returned once read and no later than Friday, 26 August. Wendy Groves, Director 07894 552283
