Starting Wednesday 3rd November 2021Learn to use woodworking hand tools safely. This short course will give you the confidence to use tools the correct way and to produce hand made items. A certificate of achievement will be handed to you when you complete the course.
Marking out tools – Using a ruler, marking gauge, mortice gauge, try square, sliding bevel and combination square.Hand saws – Producing straight, mitre, compound and curved cuts.
Wood chisels – Producing mortice, recess, stopped and open chamfers.Hand planes – setting up, plane square and producing chamfers.
Sharpening blades – grinding and honing (sharpening) chisels and planes blades.Producing a corner halving joint, a cross halving joint and a tee halving joint.
Manufacturing a frame by hand.Finishing with wood oil.
Using your new learned skills, you will produce a picture frame holding four pictures for you to take home.Only 2 spaces available!
