There will be no carnival in Exmouth this year due to the coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent UK lock down.

The carnival, which returned last year after being cancelled the year before, will sadly not be taking place. Last year's carnival took place on Saturday, October 12, and this year's event was due to take place on Saturday, October 10.

A spokesperson for Exmouth Carnival Club made this statement today: "It is with a heavy heart that due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation effecting us all, that the East Devon Carnival Circuit (which we are part of of) has taken the decision to cancel all carnivals for 2020.

"We realise this is a much loved community event that will be missed by people of all ages. We certainly hope to be back in 2021. Stay safe and stay home."

Nub News has contacted Exmouth Carnival Club for more information, check back for updates.
