PICTURES: Looking back at Exmouth Carnival 2019

After today's sad news that this year's Exmouth Carnival has been cancelled Nub News has put together a photo gallery of last year's fantastic event.

The news emerged earlier today that due to the coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent UK lock down that this year's carnival will not be taking place.

Thousands turned out to watch last year's carnival, despite heavy rain. Exmouth Nub News' Facebook Live video of the event has been watched by almost 14,000 people.

The cancellation news is particularly galling because the carnival's organiser, Gavin Roberts, was hoping this year's carnival would be bigger and better than ever before, building on the success of the 2019 event.

Gavin stepped in at the last minute in 2019 to ensure the town had a carnival event.

Speaking earlier this year Gavin said: "If Exmouth is the biggest town in Devon, why can't we give it the biggest carnival in Devon? I aim to, one day.

"It's not going to happen over night. Maybe not for a few years but hopefully one day we can put Exmouth's carnival on the map, so to speak."
