Postboxes around Exmouth have been 'yarnbombed' to raise money for Hospiscare this month.

As many as 24 postboxes around the town now feature a knitted or crocheted 'topper' with a seaside theme.

They will be there until the end of October, and have been made by local volunteers.

One of the contributors, Natalie Morrison, said: "Crochet is my hobby and my mental health stability rock, so to be able to help Hospicare is a bonus!

"On top of helping the charity I hope the toppers will make the whole community smile when they see them and people will donate if they can."

You can purchase a map to find all 24 decorated postboxes for £1 from various shops in the town. Donations will go to Hospiscare.

The shops that have the maps in stock are: Antonios on the Strand, Bookrest, Londis on Rivermead Avenue, Living & Lifestyle on Brixington Parade, Callands Budgens on Queens Drive, McColls on Pines Road, Co-op Food on Littleham Cross, and Central Store on Withycombe Village Road.

Sarah Smith, head of fundraising at Hospiscare, said: "After such a difficult period for everyone and with Hospiscare's finances so terribly affected by the pandemic, The Mail Trail is the perfect fundraiser!

"Hospiscare couldn't be more grateful to Clare for coming to us with this idea and to the businesses that have so enthusiastically supported. Support like the Mail Trail helps Hospiscare nurses care for local people during the most difficult of times."

You can donate to the Hospiscare Mail Trail via the JustGiving page here.

Several Exmouth businesses have also sponsored their efforts with donations.
