New cadets wanted at Exmouth's RAF Air Cadets Squadron
Exmouth's 299 RAF Air Cadets Squadron is seeking new cadets.
It offers a wide variety of activities, from flying to target shooting and adventure training, and teaches academic subjects including air navigation, airmanship and principles of flight. It can also help you earn BTEC qualifications and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
The squadron holds interest talks from former cadets and others. In the past, the organisation has hosted a Sergeant Air Traffic Controller and a member of the RAF on exchange with the US Space Force in Colorado.
Who can join?
The organisation has said that it is not a recruiter for the Armed Forces.
You must be between 13 (or 12, in Year 8 at school) and 17 years of age, and both male and female cadets are welcome to join.
The organisation has high standards for personal presentation. It requires that cadets take pride in their uniforms and be 'well mannered and self-disciplined'.
If you are interested in joining, you can contact the Officer Commanding on [email protected].
A recruitment evening will be held on Tuesday 8 February at 7.30pm - but you must book in advance to be shown around the squadron and ask questions.
