Coronavirus case rates are decreasing across Devon, but are rising in Plymouth, South Hams and Torridge.

In the East Devon district, case rates have fallen by 15%, with 29.4 cases per 100,000 for the seven days up to and including 25 March compared with 34.9 in the previous week.

Where are we now?

The first stage of the government's roadmap out of lockdown is underway, with fewer restrictions on social contact, sport, and travel.

Outdoor gatherings of either six people or two households are now allowed. This coincides with the Easter holidays, enabling friends and family to meet together outside.

Outdoor sports facilities, including tennis and basketball courts, open-air pools, and any other venue for formally organised outdoor activity can open again.

The 'stay at home' rule has ended but travel is still restricted, with people advised to keep journeys to a minimum and to work from home where possible.

Holidays abroad remain illegal and in England you must have a permitted reason to travel.

What's next?

From 12 April, non-essential businesses, such as hairdressers, libraries, and gyms (for personal or household use) may reopen.

Outdoor attractions, such as zoos and theme parks, and self-contained accommodation including campsites and holiday lets may also resume business.

Restaurants and bars can serve people outside, with no need for customers to buy a substantial meal with an alcoholic beverage, but customers must be seated at a table.

Funerals may continue to have a maximum capacity of 30. The number of people able to attend weddings and receptions will rise to 15.
