A new cafe offering flavours from around the world has opened in Exmouth.

Postcards Cafe, located at 50 The Strand, opened its doors on 28 February and is run by husband and wife team Rich Hook and Poppy Bragg.

The couple love to travel, and have each been to at least 30 different countries - hence the postcards and world map on the wall.

Rich said: "Between us we've hit every continent. A lot of the postcards you'll see around are from places we've been, or places friends have sent us postcards in from."

The menu is entirely meat-free, features gluten- and dairy-free options, and the coffee is from a local supplier.

Among the cafe's food and cakes are hand-picked favourites from places the pair have been on their travels.

Poppy said: "We wanted a range of things we've enjoyed when travelling.

"[The Mumbai Sandwich on the menu] has got green chutney, chaat masala, and potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes. When I was in India, I had it. It's often sold on the streets.

"With the cakes, we've got Brazilian brigadeiros which are like little chocolate truffles, Jamaican ginger cakes, and lamington [cakes] from Australia.†

The local business community in Exmouth has also been welcoming of the new cafe.

Poppy said: "Everyone's been really friendly, we've got a card up there from Spoken welcoming us, and some other people popped in - it's been really lovely that people have been so friendly."

Rich added: "[The cafe is] independent, I think that what's really cool within the Strand is you've got a lot of small independent cafes, so everyone's putting a personal stamp on what they do.†

Postcards Cafe is dog-friendly, and can be found at 50 The Strand, Exmouth.
