Here's what we're allowed to do from Monday 12 April when more COVID restrictions ease

By Will Goddard 10th Apr 2021

It's the moment we've all been waiting for - but what does it all mean?

Here's our breakdown of Step 2 of the government's roadmap out of lockdown.

Step 2 (from Monday 12 April)

Indoors

The following are allowed to open indoors:

- Non-essential retail

- Hairdressers and nail salons

- Libraries and community centres

- Gyms (but only for individual or household use)

- Funerals can continue to have up to 30 mourners

- Weddings, receptions and wakes can now have up to 15 people

Outdoors

The following are only allowed to operate outdoors:

- Zoos and theme parks

- Campsites and holiday lets (in which indoor facilities are not shared between households)

- Restaurants and bars can serve people outdoors, but customers must be seated throughout with social distancing.

What's next?

The next stage, Step 3, is only one month away on 17 May.

If all goes well, we can expect to see big changes in how many people are allowed to meet up, the opening of almost all businesses indoors, and up to 30 people for weddings.

The final stage is on 21 June, when the government hopes to remove all legal limits on social contact.
