Firefighters had to give a dog oxygen therapy after a kitchen fire in Exmouth this evening.

One fire crew from Exmouth was sent to the fire at a property in Richards Close at around 7.55pm today (January 24).

According to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service the fire involved 'a cooker and a washing basket'.

The fire was out when the fire crew arrived but one dog had to be given oxygen therapy and then taken to a nearby veterinary clinic.

A spokesperson for the fire service described the damage: "There was 10% fire damage to the property and smoke damage throughout."
